Oakland: 1750 Webster - 7-Story Mixed-User Planned for Major Surface Parking Lot in Downtown Oakland

The mixed-use boom continues in downtown Oakland as two more parking lots are slated for redevelopment near the corner of 19th and Harrison. A new 7-story mixed-use building is planned for the lots. Plans call for a primarily residential structure with 224 housing units along with a smaller ground floor retail component of about 3,700 square feet. Though located just a few blocks from the 19th Street BART station, the project would include 219 parking spaces.

Major national real estate company Lennar is developing the project. Lennar is also behind the proposed tower at 1640 Broadway so it appears that the company is doubling down on downtown Oakland. Architects for the project are LPAS which are working on a similar mixed-use project (also developed by Lennar) that is currently under construction in Berkeley.

If everything goes according to plan, this block is going to see quite a bit of construction in the next few years as another tower, by a different developer, is set to rise on that same block (and visible in the rendering below) at 1700 Webster.
