Oakland: 1110 Jackson - Affordable Housing Project Construction Update

Less than a year after breaking ground, a new 5-story affordable housing project near the Lake Merritt BART station appears to be topped out.

Once completed, the project in Oakland's Chinatown neighborhood will bring 71 new apartments as well as ground floor retail space to the area. One, two and three bedroom units will be available to low income families who make less than 60% of AMI. Non-profit East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation (EBALDC) and the Oakland Housing Authority are developing the project.

The new structure is rising a block from the huge proposal at 226 13th that would redevelop an entire city block. Also nearby is the proposed 16-story tower at 14th and Alice.
