Oakland: 3093 Broadway - Construction Work Imminent on Large Pill Hill Mixed-Use Building

Finally, we're seeing some more construction work in Oakland as a major mixed-use building in the Pill Hill area is just about ready to break ground.

The project is located at 3093 Broadway, just north of the recently opened Sprouts, and will rise on a large lot that was previously home to a Bay City Chevy car dealership. Demolition work appears to have been largely completed and all that remains is the structure on the corner of Hawthorne and Broadway which will be included into the new building.

According to a building permit filed with the city, the 7-story structure will include 423 new apartments as well as 21,000 square feet of ground floor commercial space. Also included is a new mid-block crossing that will connect Broadway and Webster, allowing people to cut through this massive block.

The developer for this project is CityView with major funding coming from Blackstone which happens to be the biggest landlord in the country.

It's exciting to see this fairly unattractive stretch of Broadway reimagined as a much more pedestrian-friendly area! Can't wait to see this one finished!
