The latest project is the Stiles Student Housing Project. Located on the corner of Bancroft and Dana, this new 8 story structure would provide housing for 773 students as well as ground floor office and retail spaces. Currently home to a parking lot and commercial building, the project would include a space for the non-profit Stiles community service program that currently occupies the commercial structure.

Solomon Cordwell Buenz, a major Chicago and San Francisco based firm, is designing the project while American Campus Communities will be building and operating this new housing project under a long-term ground lease from UC Berkeley.

As a UC Berkeley-owned development, the project is not subject to Berkeley's planning rules. The university expects to break ground on the new building in the winter of 2016 with an estimated completion date of Fall 2018

Is it 8 stories? That'd be great, but the renderings look more like 4 stories...

Each one of those 4 sections is actually 2 floors.
