Oakland: 226 13th Street - Civic Center Mixed-Use Development to Replace Huge Parking Lot

As if news about the planned 16-story tower at the corner of Alice & 14th wasn't exciting enough, a new proposal is now materializing for the huge parking lot on the other side of that same corner.

Though there have been previous proposals for this site, the current plan calls for a 7-story mixed-use structure that would include 258 apartments as well as up to 13,000 square feet of retail. Plans filed with the city indicate that Oakland-based PYATOK is designing the project. The developer appears to be Wood Partners which is a major national real estate developer based in Atlanta. It's interesting (and promising) to see that more and more large real estate companies are moving forward with large developments in the downtown Oakland area.

The same developer and architect are also behind the large development at 2300 Valdez in the Broadway Valdez area. That project is a very thoughtfully designed proposal so here's hoping that we get something similar for this site. No renderings for the project have emerged so far but we will keep you posted as soon as anything surfaces.
