Oakland: 2985 Ford - Condos Coming to East Oakland

Image: Google Maps
East Oakland certainly has seen less development than other parts of the East Bay, probably due the perception that it is an unsafe area. But with increasing housing prices and dropping crime rates, it is only a matter of time before we start to see more proposals for housing and commercial projects in this area. One early adopter may be a planned housing project at 2955 Ford Street. This proposal includes 53 residential condos as well as 10 live/work units on two lots that are currently home to industrial buildings. Developed by Madison Park Financial Corporation, the project would rise just a block from the tidal canal that separates Oakland and Alameda and would be located within biking (maybe even walking) distance to the Fruitvale BART station. No renderings for the project have been released yet.
