Oakland: 459 8th Street to Bring More Housing to Downtown Oakland

Though arguably one of the most talked about neighborhoods in the East Bay, Downtown Oakland has not seen very much construction in this current housing boom. We have, however, seen a huge number of proposals for the area which hopefully means that we're just 6-12 months away from a major boom. Another proposal to add to that list is 459 8th Street. Located on the corner of 8th and Oakland, this proposals calls for 50 apartments over 4,000 square feet of retail space. The building would rise on what is currently a surface parking lot and would certainly fill a sizable gap in the Old Oakland neighborhood. The project is being developed by Signature Development Group and designed by YHLA Architects.
