Oakland: 459 23rd - 6-Story Mixed-Use Building Proposed for Uptown Neighborhood

A new apartment building is proposed for what is currently a surface parking lot in the Uptown neighborhood of Downtown Oakland. The proposed building would rise on 23rd Street at the corner of Valley Street just a block west of Broadway. The new structure would contain 65 housing units as well as 3,700 square feet of ground floor commercial space. Local developer Signature Development Group, which developed the Broadway Grand building next door, is listed as the project applicant. No renderings are available yet. Though this development may not fill up a high profile parking lot (and there are quite a few of those in Downtown Oakland), it's good to know that another gap will be filled in downtown Oakland and we can look forward to more housing and more people living in the area.
