Emeryville: Marketplace Development - The Latest on Parcel D aka the Theater Site

I've previously covered both Parcel C and Parcel A of the large Public Market redevelopment plan but have not written anything about Parcel D. This parcel is located in the northeastern corner of the development and is currently home to a shuttered (and soon to be demolished) United Artists theater. Unlike most of the other developments planned for Marketplace, this parcel will be purely residential. As currently proposed, the new 7-story structure would include 223 housing units and almost 300 parking spaces. Parcel D is being developed by major REIT Avalon Bay with design work by TCA Architects, the same team that's behind Parcel A. The current phasing plan suggests that this building is scheduled to start construction in March 2016 with an expected completion date in February 2018.

This leaves just Parcel B as the only plot that doesn't have a separate post on my blog. No detailed plans have been filed with the city just yet but since it will be a parking structure with ground floor retail, it will be just a bit less exciting than these other 3 developments.
