Emeryville: 3840 Adeline/The Intersection Project Bringing 105 Apartments to Oakland/EV border

Right around the corner from the planned affordable housing project on San Pablo is a market-rate housing project at 3840 Adeline (and alternatively 3800 San Pablo) called "The Intersection." Currently under construction (photos to be posted soon), this development includes 105 apartments, 25,000 square feet of commercial space and even a small park. While the project will include an expected wood-framed apartment building component, The Intersection will also incorporate and renovate the one-story commercial buildings that face Adeline St and San Pablo Ave. The development will also include about 100 parking spots - half of them for the commercial tenants, half for the residents. As seems to be common in this area, about 25% of this project is in the city of Oakland.
In terms of the project's design, Holliday Development and David Baker Architects really went for a bold and modern look for the new 5-story structure. The protruding and varied fenestration along with what looks to be a high quality facade contrast nicely with the older, simpler look of the commercial buildings. It's also nice to see the addition of a plaza along Adeline St as well as a small new park that will be carved out from an excessively wide stretch of Apgar St on the south side of the project. I'm sure residents will enjoy the small buffer this green spot will provide from the busy streets in this area.
