OAK: Pair of Mixed-Users Headed to MacArthur/MLK

It looks like more mixed-use buildings are headed to Oakland, this time near the MacArthur BART station. According to plans filed recently (PDF download) with the city of Oakland, two mixed-use buildings with a total of 50 residential units are slated for two separate lots near the intersection of MLK Jr Way and MacArthur Blvd. Both would be developed by Rockridge Properties.

3801 MLK Jr. Way would replace the abandoned building on the left while 3820 MLK Jr. Way would replace the windowless gray structure just past the brown residential building on the right.

Other than the redevelopment of the huge parking lot just east of the MacArthur BART station, there has not been too much development in this area. Given the popularity of anything BART adjacent these days, it should not come as a surprise that some of the underused parcels are now being considered for housing developments.
